Deal done.. - Day 1

Well, we finally bought the house. I'm not quite sure yet whether I should be singing in the rain of happiness, or screaming because of the troubles ahead, or ... somewhere in between.
Anyway, as you see we "moved in" with couple of our tool sets. Today. May the 11th, 2013.
I can not highlight enough how I hate, hate, hate carpets, new or old, and this house featured a lot of it. Everywhere. To make it worse it was the old one, "nice and thick" that smelled of everything but a welcoming home.
Jimmies, hammers, screw drivers, just the right tools to start with.
First, as I DID NOT do during our first two fix ups and received complains from friends why I didn't, this time I took several pictures of the living, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Just as I finished documenting the old conditions, the strong men :D, hubby and another Hungarian guy arrived. They started right away by opening ALL the windows we found in the house, and it wasn't because of the heat but rather because we couldn't stand the smell. Did I just mention how I hate old carpet? :D So does everybody else in the family.
We took a deep breath, grabbed each of us some tools we thought we can handle, and started work.
The guys attacked the rooms, I took over my favorite place, the kitchen.
Soon we realized we need some extra stuff, mainly because of the extra  help we received, small and big all needed gloves and masks to safely continue our work. I, like the most useless adult of the bunch due to my lovely swollen knee, made a trip to the nearby Home Depot for the stuff.
This made me remember our first flat flip, and partly second house too, in Finland, when at every urgent need of material or tool hubby chanted " 'll jump down to Bauhaus", just like he would go to the cafe at the corner, with the minor difference that Bauhaus was 25 km and a half an hour drive ONE direction :D.
The good part is that this time the nearest "emergency" spot is just two corners away..
Now, the rest of the day went on without much fuss, the middle one got tired and needed a lift home (we started to suspect some super sensitivity to eventual leftover termite poison in the air), but the youngest helped all day long. What a stamina!
This is what we came up with at the end of the day.

As you can see, the kitchen has no doors, and no fridge. The fridge actually moved out to the garage to store some cold drinks and food, as in the house nothing will stay safe or edible for a long while.

The rooms have no closets whatsoever, nor carpet.
Jippiiii!!!

It already looks sooo much lighter and better, and I'm not even mentioning the smell and feeling of freshness that came with removing the carpets and old furniture doors, and we are not yet done with the living..

As you can see I need to get some more training in the before after pictures, the first is an after-before, and the rest are not exactly same position, but here are the best matching and I'm sure it will get better..
